AB40VSK: Need help adjusting individual string volume
« on: February 13, 2014, 08:02:21 PM »
HI Folks -

Proud new owner of an AB40VSK, which I am enjoying immensely.

I decided to replace the stock strings with D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewound strings. Now that the strings are on the bass, the volume levels for the strings is uneven; specifically, the G string is much "hotter" than the others.

No problem, I thought -- there's individual (plus master) level adjustments on the back. I grab my trusty screwdriver and start fiddling with the settings. To make a long story, the G string is still "hotter" than the others, and I'm at a loss as to how to fix it.

Suggestions?

In sitting, just sit. In walking, just walk. Above all, don't wobble.

OK. mystery solved: the individual level controls on the back of the bass are labeled backwards, i.e., the one marked E actually controls the level for the G string.  :o

I've got 'em all leveled out properly now, and the bass is back to sounding super sweet. *phew*  8)
