EA15ATB NuBone nut and saddle ajustment
« on: March 22, 2014, 06:49:30 AM »
I have an EA15ATB. My problem is, that the saddle broke to pieces. Now I want to replace saddle and nut. The vendor told me, that it comes equipped with Nubone nut and saddle. But on graphtech I can't find exact the ones with the same hight, width etc. So what do washburn recommend for this guitar?

Thanks in advanced
Hans

You will never be able to buy an off the shelf, exact match for any nut and saddle, for any acoustic guitar.  First let's discuss the saddle.  You will need to buy something close in size.  A bit taller is best and then sand to fit.    Here are a couple of good tutorials on the subject.

And a source for saddle blanks, nuts and all other things luthier.

The nut is much more complicated and requires very specialized tools.  If the current nut is ok, leave it alone.  If you need to replace it, best to take it to a luthier and have a new one fabricated.  To replace both a saddle and a nut, a luthier will charge you approx. $75 +/-.

O.K. i found a Nubone sample saddle (sample) but i can't buy it here in germany. I found a TUSQ one, which has similar sizes.
What is the diffrent or which one is better for my EA15ATB. Thank i. a.

I think there about the same thing. Both man made.  If you look at there graphs they transmit <?   about the same amount of vibrations.  I have bought both at the local store and looked at the back of the blister pack were it shows it.  For 13.00 there both nice. ( local price)    I would pay to have them both done in bone if you intend to keep your guitar for a long time. If your guitar is in good shape, than to me it is a nice enough quality of guitar to pay the extra.  :)    Tom.  :)
