Xb120 Q?
« on: April 22, 2014, 09:33:21 PM »
Hello friends:

After much research I have concluded I just purchased an '01 xb120 q.  This is the tobacco sunburst quilted top model with 4 knobs (vol, tone, highs, and lows). I find very little info on this specific model.  I am loving it and it fits me well.  I also got an insane deal. Thanks GC. The metal plate reads washburn pro.  Does anybody have info on it? Then catalogs in the archive only go up to 2000 and this was only a 01-02 model. How does it compare to other Bantams? What makes it pro? Is it that much better than the regular 120? What was the original list price?

Thanks...

Hunter

IME, the 120 is a worthy Bantam bass, though presently worth under $200. While clearly better than the XB100, a few bucks more gets the workhorse 24-fret XB400 (caveat: I own three, so I'm prejudiced). The 120Q was the quilt-top version, made like 2001-2004. What has me curious is the four knobs; the 120s I've seen (two soapbar pickups) have had just 2 + switch, so you might indeed have an oddity.

Whatever the brand, I distrust anything labelled "pro" as this might mean top-grade USA-made... or bottom-end beginner gear.

Thanks Tony.  If I can figure out how to post pictures from my tablet I will.  It does look just like the one on this link.   http://www.popscreen.com/p/MTM0NjMwOTg5/Washburn-Pro-Bantam-Series-XB120-4String-Electric-Bass-Guitar-eBay I wouldn't mind a 400 if one came across my way. I'm going to be checking my pickups and tone knob, for some reason my neck pickup is a lot quieter than my bridge pickup.  I tried adjusting the height, but the bass becomes unplayable when the neck pickup is high enough to match the bridge pickup output.
