« on: November 12, 2014, 10:13:01 PM »
Hi All,

I have an original 1981 B model Eagle (Black), with the original case. Any ideas on what this guitar is worth?

thanks

Dependent on a number of things -

Completely original / lightly modified / modified

Like-new condition / some dings and scratches / evident wear

Collectors and players value guitars differently; in my opinion, you won't get meaningful guesstimates without detailed photos.
My Washburns -

A-5, Black
A-5, Yellow
A-10, Black Translucent
A-10, Red Translucent
A-10, Green Translucent
A-20 Reissue, Honey Burst
HB-30, Tobacco Sunburst
HB-30DL
HB-32DM
HB-35, Natural

Thanks C-Ram,

I should explain that  I'm not looking for an appraisal, I'm not even intersted in selling, rather I'd just like to know a ball park number/range. There is precious little online about this model of guitar- by all accounts, including Washburn USA,  they are quite rare.  I have seen the blue book value, but I have already sold several guitars listed there for well in excess of what they value them at, so I don't consider them the benchmark or final arbiter of anything.

There's an Eagle on Ebay now (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Washburn-Eagle-Rare-guitar-seekers-Beautiful-Limited-Edition-out-of-Production-/151460781122?pt=Guitar&hash=item2343c41c42), but it's a 2008 re-issue and the seller is claiming that original models are valued at $5K or more... that's his opinion, of course.  I saw another on Ebay UK in an older listing for 700 pounds but the auction was terminated before it's ending, for whatever reason.

A good indication of their rarity/desirability might be to ask here-How many members of this forum own this particular guitar (Washburn Model B Eagle) ?
Not Wing series guitars, just Eagles and further to that, how many black ones, as I've been led to believe that they are the rarest. Any listeners/owners care to chime in?
 Who has one-who wants one?

Ian

Incidentally, my Eagle is probably a 8.5/10 -it still has the factory stickers on the coil split pots. Considering it's 33 years old),and if they are as rare as people keep telling me, 8.5 may be a 10.
