D10 electro with presys blend?
« on: May 14, 2016, 09:44:40 AM »
Greetings all, I am new to the forum but not to Washburn guitars. I have had a few throughout the years and always seem to get good ones. Recently, I have come across one one the used market and its in the same city I live in. Its a D10, the label inside says D10 SW NAT, yet it has a fishman presys blend system in it with the controls on the side as would be the case with a factory fitted system. However I cant find any evidence that Washburn ever put that system in D10's and surely wouldn't the label read D10e or something like that? Does anyone know if they ever made the D10 with that pickup? Do you think maybe the pickup has been added afterwards? In my experience people tend not to go to the bother of installing systems like that where they have to start carving up the sides etc and rather go for something easier like a simple passive or whatever. Any advice is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.  The model number, D10 SW, would typically indicate a all solid wood guitar.  However, exceptions abound.  Washburn is very inconstant in labeling and naming.  Yes the typical factory labeling would have been D10E (all laminate with electronics)  or D10 SE (solid top w/ electronics). So given all that, it's a likely guess that the guitar was made for a big box retailer or was modified by an owner who added electronics.  You can buy the fishman system as a kit so it's not all that uncommon for an owner with some reasonable wood working/luthier skills to self install.

The following is from the blue book listings for the D10 series.
