Help identifying the guitar.
« on: August 22, 2016, 01:53:01 PM »
This is the first acoustic guitar I ever bought. I believe it was in the early 90's (in Sweden).
Does anyone know what model it is? Or any other info about it would be helpful.

That soundboard sure does NOT look like spruce...looks more like Bubinga.

Spruce is a light colored, very straight grained wood...not at all like the figuring on that second photo. The "BR" part of the model designation could actually be for "Bubinga/Red"...that's what I see when I look at that soundboard, bubinga graining and red stain. I'm not sure what the "Y" part would be....not sure I've ever seen that letter used in a model designation before.

Are we sure that's right?

Cheers!!

I doubt it's bubinga, my guess it's some effect color finish.
On google I find a few matching examples of Washburn D-12 YBR that look like this one.
This for example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-Washburn-Acoustic-Guitar-D-12YBR-/131740017359?hash=item1eac5122cf%3Ag%3A5iMAAOSw%7EOVW1NuV&nma=true&si=PFozOIAjcvuKGcDQKPSGPgduA9E%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
The first foto in this article show that the top has a straight, spruce-like grain pattern.
Nothing sure though..
