XB-600 6-string neck
« on: December 30, 2016, 01:08:58 PM »
I am trying to locate a replacement neck for my XB-600 6-string bass. The neck has developed a crack and I am no where close to a luthier or good repair man. Was hoping I could get some leads on a replacement neck for this 6-string. Hope I can get some suggestions here. Thanks all.

You have two feasible options.
  • buy another XB-600 for $300-$400, take the neck, sell the remaining parts on eBay or Reverb
  • spend $1,000 (maybe more) having a neck built & fitted

That neck pocket is very specific to Washburn, & then only in a few models like midrange XB & the MB series. This blocks you from something like a Warmoth neck (standard Fender-style pocket) -- even if one of those would work, I doubt you'd find one for less than $250.

And because it's a six-string, there's little choice left but to track down an MB-6 or XB-600, or at least the neck.

If you have someone closer to you who restores antique furniture, consulting with them is a potential option.

Morelikely, though, unless you want to replace the entire instrument, the best choice might be to mail the neck to a luthier.

XB600 is a Bantam series bass, 6-string model.. not X-series guitar.. ok, like what Tony said, your options are pretty much slim to getting a drop in replacement.. you could watch video on how to repair the crack or get a different 6-string bass.  The tension on these necks are pretty high.. better get the neck evaluated to see if it is viable to repair.. I doubt it would suddenly snap because of tension.. but one cannot be certain.

Take care.
