Washburn EA36 1993 Ltd Edition Wine Red
« on: April 26, 2018, 04:08:12 PM »
Hi all,

Just joined the site so thought I'd post a few pics of my EA36. Apparently Washburn only produced this colour in 1993, if someone knows any different then I'd love to hear from you because I know little about it's history. By the way, the Serial number is S5087214.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
It's strange, because the Washburn archive catalogs indicate that Wine Red (WR) was only made in 1993, in 1995 it only states Neutral (N). Did you deduce the date of manufacture from the serial number? If so can you tell me how?

S= Samick.....the builder of the guitar

First digit of the serial number...in this case .....is the year of manufacture 5 = 1995

The archives do not carry ever color available for a particular model by the year.  If a color is mentioned in the archives, it was most likely used every year of the models production.

The archives are not definitive .....they are a starting point.

Thanks for the information. Where did you learn how to decipher these serial numbers?

Ok, thanks, so I guess Washburn don't keep track of instruments that are produced under their name, maybe it's better they have Samick on the headstock instead of Washburn, along with Epiphone, Hohner, Squier etc, after looking at their site it seems half the world owns OEM guitars produced in the Samick factory. Still, who cares, unless you're in the vintage guitar market of course...
