Strings Question
« on: December 27, 2005, 03:54:17 PM »
I purchased a Washburn G-30 a couple of weeks ago at SamAsh, and on the guitar, a tag said that it used Extended Life Slicks strings, but it didn't have gauges on the tag, and I can't find the strings online.  Does anyone know what kinds of strings these are and what the best strings replacement strings would be, once I need to change them?

If it's an electric, use 10 guage. If archtop/hollowbody use 11's. An acoustic will take 12's. If you use 9's on the low side, or 13's on the high side, you may have to adjust the truss rod. DO NOT do this unless you know what you're doing. Have it set up at a shop for $35. Those should be the guages. As far as brand, the only ones comparable that I can think of offhand are Elixers. Good Luck!
