AB-20 Bass
« on: April 26, 2006, 09:04:51 PM »
I'm in the market for an acoustic bass and have found a black AB-20 with hard shell case.

I have a few questions:

When and where were these made? Is there a serial number database?
What are some of the pros of this instrument?
What are some of the cons?
How much did these list and sell for new?
What is the current market value for one in good condition?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The AB-20 bass was discontinued in 1999, which at that time the list was $1199.  According to my Blue Book (admitedly it's last year's book), mint condition shows $900; excellent $550, and average is $395.  Need I say more?

Thanks! My first Washburn and first Acoustic and the sound is great! Serial number 910318, a 1989 according to Washburn. It's in very good shape for an instrument this age, just a few nick here and there, I'll clean it up, change the strings and start jammin.

1998 Modulus Q5
1990 Steinberger XL Standard
1999 Ibanez SR-500 (got this for my daughter and she stopped playing)
1989 Washburn AB-20
