I've been searching for info everywhere on washburn acoustic serial numbers and haven't had much luck so maybe someone can give me some insite or point me in the right direction. When my dad passed a few years ago I found an old was burn acoustic in his closet. All I know is that it has what looks like a stamped piece of wood with the  washburn stamp in the hole and the serial 85861. Does anyone have an idea on date it was made or a rough idea of what its worth? Thank you

Hi guys, just found this forum and was hoping a thread like this was still alive.  I think I am on the right track with this one, but if anyone can help confirm that would be awesome.

Model is D10S12, friend received it as part of a barter agreement.  Guy claimed worth of $300 but I am thinking that's what it was when new, not now.
Serial is SC0110110

If I read previous posts/guidance correctly, does it look like Samick China - October 2001 - #110 ?  Trying to learn, really appreciate any assistance.

opfor, welcome to the forum. I think you nailed the numbers right on the head. I'm sure there are others that will come along and verify it.  murph

Welcome to the forum opfor, don't have any deep knowledge when pertaining to acoustic guitars, but believe your thoughts on the serial # is right on as murph said. Hate to piggy back a question on top of your own, but; noticed in your images it seems that the guitar was originally produced to be strung as a 12 string. Seems the  nut was changed so to be strung as a six string? Was curious as to how this has affected the neck and/or body in any way, if at all? Does the lack of tension (strung with 6 strings instead of 12 affect the guitar in any way? (playability, warping, etc.)

@rwmurphy Thanks, I've read through the whole thread so I could ask this in an educated way - just learned from the best I guess ;)

@Sextant1951  It's actually the original bridge, but the guy offering it for barter didn't include the additional 6 pegs or strings.  My plan is to buy a complete set of strings and pegs to get it back to its original state.  I think the guy just got it years ago then gave up on the whole 12-string concept :)

Thanks guys

Once you get her up to snuff, she looks like she'd be a decent player well into the future.......enjoy!

Hi folks, i bought this bass new about 10 years ago, lost the badge and cant remember the model no. S/N is 01060502 (made in korea) says washburn hammerhead on head. buzz feiten tuning system. I snapped the bolt holder on the bridge and lost 1 of the saddles, taking to various music shops and they cant get replacements for these, any ideas? Thanks in advance. Image at link below

hello Sinned,

welcome to the forum...  As with other brands, Fender, Gibson (not sure), Ibanez etc. and Washburn, have outsource most production of their guitar in Asia (Japan, Korea, Indonesia, China).  Vintage Washburn from 80's are made in Japan.. Later they moved production to Korea to keep competitive cost down, and then Indonesia and then to China.   i have a 86' Washburn Force ABT B-30 metallic red MiJ by Kasuga..  and 95' Washburn Bantam XB-400 natural matte (sort of butterscotch) MiK by Samick.  according to Samick history, they opened a factory in Indonesia in 1992... during this era Samick had production in Korea and Indonesia.. not sure when most of production went to Indonesia, but i guesstimate around 1998 - now...  my 2004 Washburn WG587 (dual humbucker 7-string shredder) is MiC (made in China).  Unless they have special run or something, my best educated guess would be your Washburn XM DLX2 is MiC.  At first i was a snob towards China made guitars but looking at the quality coming out from Squier Classic Vibe standards or teles... and my latest guitar...  all i can say is who cares where or who made the guitar... as long as it plays beautifully and i am not planning on selling.  :)

please post some pictures of your ax.  thanks

Thank for the reply psp742.

What you said is so true. Love my guitar. I also have a Bantam Series XB600. Bought it in 1995.

LittleBadBoy, my hunch is your Idol WI66v is a 2002, www.washburn.com/info/faq/..  So far I haven't found a 2002 catalog.
