wow, as they say 'the world is your oyster'........ what exactly  (style type) is an 'excel'....: strat, les paul, solid, semi-hollow, etc, and what style do you play/ what sound are you after? classic/vintage rock, metal, etc.......?

firsttimer, if you've poked enough around the forum yet you'll see a number of washburns use seymour duncans. and hell, if you've been on ebay you've seen ALOT of guitar mfgs. use seymour duncans. I've used them in 'upgrading' a few of my guitars and am very happy w/ the results. Not to drown you or confuse you with/in information but here's the link to the harmony central forum that reviews all (groan) the SD's;

http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Electric+Guitar+Pickup/brand/Seymour+Duncan

accidently clicked 'submit' (DOH!!!) before I pasted in the link but that's it right above! Really can't go wrong browsing thru these reviews and taking the bulk of points in a category to help you make a choice. You also didn't mention if your strat-look-a-like is a single-single-single(coil) configuration or single-single-humbucker configuration, then your choices get even wider. anyway, reason I like the duncan's is they, in my opinion, really give you a good bang for your buck when upgrading. I've yet to be disappointed and I've used a '59 neck, sh-14 custom 5 bridge in one guitar and the 'old faithful' combo (very well balanced' a jazz neck and jb bridge in another; ALL humbuckers!!! the pickups I chose REALLY came thru in giving me the vintage rock full sound i was after! (I also just purchased a Washburn WI67Pro that has a 59 neck and custom-custom bridge Duncans that I'm LOVIN'!) SD has quite a selection of strat ready pickups as well; what the heck might as well give you the link to their site as well;

http://www.seymourduncan.com/products.shtml

(gotta be careful when pasting in these links the 'submit reply' is so closed to the cursor it almost happened again!!!lol!)

http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/strats.shtml

that link there is limited to their strat pickups the one above it has a 'humbucker' section as well if your strat has a humbucker.

as you can see the duncan site has a 'listen to' comparison section but you really need good speakers, i think, on your pc to hear a difference.
after you've narrowed it down the fun begins for the 'best price' hunt on ebay......one dealer I really like on ebay is siglar music;

http://stores.ebay.com/Sigler-Music-Center_Pickups_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZ13QQftidZ2QQtZkm

very competitative prices and a HUGE selection w/ FAAASST shipping.

so there ya go that should get ya started. feel free to ask any questions you have..........also, i know 'mrmudcat' a forum member has a line on a dealer w/ who he says has good pickups for short$......just for starts!!!!!!lol!

Chris I am sorry to say that I did not, I had my daughter with me and never had a whole lot of time to look around. But I do plan to buy some pickups in the next couple of weeks.
