This chick is awesome.  I will cry myself to sleep 2nite knowing I was not born with talent.  I mean come on!  How can some one even understand how to play like that at the age of ten.  It is so unfair.  She must really love music for something to hold her attention that well at that age.  WOW!

Excuse me guys but where did it say she was 10,I thought she was young yes but more like 20ish,thats the great thing about bluegrass and that type of music, where families play together at church and family picnics and jamborees and they are the most friendly folk you would ever want to know, and it just seems that from a very young age kids pick instruments and then play all the time, with family, friends and I am sure even some of their enemies.
When she grows up some more she will be a fine picker, gotta love em.louis

Right....I just turned 50...therefore if I play another 10-15 years I might get close...goes to reason doesn't it? So maybe when I'm 65 I will be able to play almost as good....makes me weep ( not with sadness, but for joy ) Damn! Something crazy about all this.
cheers

Shiner, I agree.  Sometimes when I hear a really gifted player I'll have to wonder why I even bother. I'll never be that good, so I may as well throw in the towel.  And then I remember that I just play for fun.  I'll never be as good as her, but I CAN be as good as I can get.  That's always worth working for.

As for you, you've only been playing about a year.  From what I gather, you've come pretty darn far in a year.  This time next year you'll be so much further, and CB too.  We're paying our dues.  Someday when we're about 70, we might be able to keep up with those gifted little kids.

It's going to be fun watching Miss Hull's career over the next twenty years! Remember Allison Krause when she won the fiddling competitions in her teens?? I kind of wonder what her first love is: mandolin or guitar?
