In case you didn't know the N3 has two BL's in it. According to my good friend Skee, it's an L500R in the Neck.

I didn't realize there wasn't a selector switch. I think I'll keep mine. I like variety. Another deviation from the glorius N. When I replace all my BL USA pickups, I'll be putting in push/pull pots too. I just happen to have 3 of them, and I'll be switching out 3 so it works out.

I love it when a plan comes together.

I feel better ;-)
I just though you were going to make an actual replica of Nuno's N3, meaning you were about to drill a hole to move the pickup selector where it actually was on the N3 ;-)

I still can't believe how informative you guys are on the whole N4 lineup.  Even after all these years after buying my N4 in '92, I can't imagine a better looking or sounding guitar.  I do have to say though that after years of not liking the L500 bridge, I recently replaced it with John Suhr's Doug Aldrich bridge pup.  I like the rich tone of this pup so much better.  Sure, I've seen forums talking about the imitation BL pickups but I never would have imagined that my Davies guitar would have this fake that's been haunting me for the longest time...(!)

With regard to the N1 (pre-Washburn), I believe it was (is) a shaved Schecter body with a Warmoth neck.  I believe it had a Jackson neck at one time as well.  This shaved (scaled down) body then spawned the N2...and so on.

Ok let's clear the record here as far as Nuno's pre-Washburn days.

I used to go out and buy something like a $1,200 Jackson and cut it up.

My main guitar is insane. I play a shaved, unpainted Schecter body with a Warmoth neck. The neck has jumbo frets, my pikups are made by Bill Lawrence and I have a Floyd Rose twang bar. I've had companies like Washburn and Ibanez try to duplicate it.

-Nuno Bettencourt, Guitar World, Nov 1989

I'll try and scan the whole blurb in as text. He talks about his amps, the scorpions just like Glowbox said.

Makes you ponder what Washburn did to get Nuno to agree to them making his axe. Whatever they did I think it was worth it. The N4 is as far as I'm concerned one of the most distinguished guitars out there. Obviously it has a pretty good following. Does Washburn have another electric guitar that's talked about as much as the N4?

Yeah, once I saw that pic you sent, Rex, I realized that the Shaved black guitar in the pic I posted is probably a Jackson body, not a Schecter.  The unfinished guitar is definitely a Schecter guitar (at least it looks like one) as Nuno mentions in the article.

Here's a pic that I've been told is the prototype that Ibanez was working on for Nuno.

Hello to my dearest friend Crazee4nuno, to Skeesik, Chaos Rex and ZeGlobox among many others Nuno and N4 savants... It's great to see all of you here as well as being part of the Nuno/N4 Brigade.. LEt me upload later pics of Nuno's guitar at HArd Rock CAfe in Roppongi, Tokio, which is an earlier white N1...

Wow !!! the Ibanez Nuno pix are great... I'm glad he didn't sign to Ibanez ! The axe was horrible ! :p

BTW, can the N4 be Washburn's best selling guitar/best made guitar overall?

Awesome !

Many people agree the Bill and Becky pickup is simply better... even though I have never tried or listened to one, I don't like the current BL on the Nuno guitars.. it's way too trebly and noisy...

Lozzano,

Nice guitars. Your Davies and your Sonic are top. I've been wanting a 7 string Sonice with Floyd Rose for a long time. I think I like the color of yours the best of all the one's I've seen.

I have a few N4s. One of them has a real B&B L500 in it. The other's have ...the other guys pickups. There is quite a difference between the 2. While my first N4 my infamous Swamp Pad (no I'm still not convinced) has been my fave of my N4's and I thought the sound of the BL USA was a good sounding pickup, once I started playing my Wineburst N4 with the real B&B L500... wow. I really do like the sound of theirs alot more. And if you want to nail Nuno's tone you really need the B&B L500 in there.

I actually just ordered 3 B&B L500's (of varying types). And I can't wait to replace all the bridge pick-ups in my other N4's. I'll do some before and after sound clips and post them.

Hey Chaos...

Thx for the explanation about the BL pickups. I will look forward to trying one soon. As for the Sonics, they are indeed killing machines... I don't know really why Washburn stopped making them... some say it was a tough competitor for the Nunos and the now defunct Nx series.. but they are every penny worthy, made in USA, great quality components and now they are being offered so cheap at Ebay !!!...

While I'm not interested in 7 strings guitars, I've heard so many positive comments about Sonic 7s as well...
