Title: Washburn Festival Guitars country of origin?
Post by: toyhog on September 02, 2014, 09:05:09 PM
Howdy… newbie question:

I see early 1980’s Washburn Monterey, Woodstock and Tanglewood guitars come up for sale with the description as “Made in the USA” or “Washburn Custom Shop” guitars. I have read here on posts and on other acoustic guitar sites that ALL Festival guitars were made overseas.

Where ANY of these 80’s acoustic/electric Festival guitars ever Made in the USA? If yes, how could I tell?

Every model that I have seen over the years looks like my Japan(?)/overseas production line Monterey and Woodstock A. Not one seller has ever been able to show a made in USA marking or a Washburn Custom shop certificate, sticker or paperwork of any type. I am referring to the six digit serial number versions.

Can anyone confirm the Festival Series origin?
Thanks!

I'd be very interested in knowing this also!  Mine is much the same, I believe I bought my guitar new in 1981/1982 (I treat it like a beloved family member) and always thought it was made in Japan, which at the time, everything was being made there.
