Hi Stuart,
very interesting. you say yours is an F-model?  8)
could you post a picture to compare some details?

as for the serial, I think it's looks like the same system, mine being from 1989, yours from 1987.

Hi all!
Here is a recording that I recently made with this guitar:

Be aware that processing has been applied to the recording.

I found another example of Washburn's odd naming, or maybe just a mistake:
this (overpriced) offer is also looking like the D-20 2.version, but marked in the warranty card with the added "S" for solid top

browsing around I found the 1984 D-20 model from the catalog, i.e. here:
looks like Ovangkol back and sides and laminate spruce top

Hey dugly
I had different problem with posting on iphone, when i composed a message and made a too long break the page would be reloaded and the message gone.
My solution was to select all and copy the text frequently, if anything goes wrong i can still paste it.
Maybe this helps.

Pictures would really help here.
You can't post directly on this site but use a picture hosting service instead ie. Postimage ( there Are few but photobucket doesnt work anymore)

hey mps
can you post a picture?

Hey Butch

afaik, this is the model with laminate ovangkol back & sides. Very nice looking.
this one could be 1988, then it's probably a solid spruce top. MIK as my guess.

That one looks nice !

The first recording with this guitar. Strung with 6 ultra light strings (10-50 Bronze 85/15). Bridge reglue will come soon.

Yaj, I love those threads.. :D

while the Yamaki connection was sometimes overestimated, there is a very interesting japanese page that shows how some of the first Timber Ridge and Prairie Song models had a nearly 1:1 corresonding model Yamaki branded:
same site with google translate:

Beware, I think not all specs are 100% correct, those guitar are not veneer woods, but the pictures speak for themselves.

Hi Jon,
nice one!
yours is not the second version D-30 but the third, produced from mid-90s on if I remember well.
remarkable I find those trianguar markers that I have only seen before on the much earlier Prairie Song & Timber Ridge Customs.

I have a second version D-30s, you can view here:,24624.msg154686.html

Hey Joe  :D
Prairie Songs are indeed very nice.
D-61SW was build from 1988 on, afaik, in the second version of this line that had the V-Headstock.
The serial number's first digit in this period was, probably or most of the time, only the last digit of the year.
I'd be curious to see the full number, and of course, some photos  :)
