General Discussion / Future Shop now carrying Washburns
« on: December 22, 2008, 02:05:46 PM »
I just recently saw that Future Shop electronics here in Canada is now carrying several guitar lines, including a few Washburn models.  Interesting.

Comparing their prices against what the Washburn website suggests, there is about $200 - 300 in the difference, of course there is exchange that I haven't factored in yet.  Example, the Washburn site lists the Paul Stanley PS7200 for $1299 US.  At Future shop, $999 CDN.  Also, there was almost $300 difference from the WI64 and WI45 models.

Any comments?

Show Us Your Washburn / Idol WI-67

Tio, the WI67's are my favorite.  I played one for a few mintues a while back at a music shop about an hour from home -- fell in love with it immediately.  Unfortunately, I was not able to get it at the time.  But I will have 1 someday -- to hopefully be followed by the WI66 with the spalted maple -- another beauty for sure.

Excellent post Tio.  It's a pretty good idea not to take too much stock in the words of people who like to generalize everything. Overly opinionated people are not my cup of tea.

Now for the more important topic -- this thong has wayyyy too much material, IMO!!!  LOL

Now that is a thing of beauty.  Just curious what the headstock looks like.  I might be able to find something on the web that shows it.  Any idea how old this thing is?

Edit:  Just found some online.  All I can say is WOW!!!!  I want one.

yes we have had a little snow this year -- all good though seeing as I bought an old snowmobile to kick around on -- things keep going the way they are and I'll be sledding until August

Hiya folks - how's everyone doin.

My 1st post back in here in a long time and its more hockey-related than guitar-related.  ;)

Luv that Extreme Whole Hearted video.  If I remember correctly, thats the video that both Ray Bourque and Cam Neely show up in while they were still playin for the Briuns.  I also liked their rock tune Get the Funk Out  -- the video was a strange one  LOL

So whats everyone been up to lately??

maybe, maybe not -- when the deal presents itself with the opportunity to save 75_+%, sometimes you just say what the heck and go for it -- if its not what you want, or it wasn't all it was cracked up to be, flip it, get your money back (sometimes more) and move on to the next prospect

Thanx Louis.  Nice to see you are still here -- one of the 1st threads I read when I came back was your c ya, I'm outta here thread.  Hopefully you've got everything straightened out with whomever you were having the disagreements with.

What I've noticed so far is that everyone seems to have kept their senses of humor and their luv of Washburns -- this is all good.

Amazing... this old thread just keeps on going and going and...... you know what I mean

I haven't been to the site in many, many months.  Looks like a lot of new folks -- will have to start coming back on a regular basis to get caught up on all the dirt.

Other east coast-type stuff you might be interested in should include:

Ron Hynes - I have an awesome version of Sonny's Dream on my PC
Bruce Guthro
Lennie Gallant
The Punters
The Fables
Jimmy Rankin's solo stuff
Natalie McMaster - an absolute doll and pure genius with the fiddle
McGuinty
Stan Rogers - deceased; originally from Ontario but has a great east coast feel

And if you like country, here are a few east coasters who are doing very, very well - Julian Austin, Chris Cummings, George Canyon (Runner up in the Nashvlle Star)

All very good stuff.

Deacon, this is the same as your Augusta?

Yup... just has a different paint job.  Alpha Male has my guitar with this color scheme.

Mine is the cutaway electric version of this one.

yep, mine also is a/e with cutaway but mine doesn't have the BFTS.

I'll post another pic of it later.

From the catalogue, it looks like they discontinued the WI67 Pro semi-hollow.  Too bad -- it is a beauty.
