Idol Series / New DLX Idols
« on: May 30, 2011, 01:35:56 PM »
Hey everyone. Yep I am new here.
Just wondering if anyone here owns or has tried any of these DLX models, that still look like the original Idols. They look nice enough, but I do a lot of classic rock...Ozzy,Motley Crue...80's rock. What do these guitars sound like? Will they work well in that Genre of music? Do you think they can take that every weekend playing and a couple nites a week practice grind?

I've owned the WI64 and the WI64DL. They are bothe set up basically like a Les Paul except for the fact the tone controls are for the VCC.With the pup selector down only the botton volume works. With the selector in the middle position you have to turn both volumes down. with the selector all the way up you have to operate only the top volume. Turn the top volume all the way off, and play the the lower treble settings only and you have the ability to kill your sound simply by switching the pup selector up.{ as maybe to kill the feedback off of a hot amp or maybe jumping back and forth from an acoustic on a stand}unfortunately I found the VCC totally useless and the sounds from it inadequate to say the least, and outright pitiful to say the most. I've since sold them both and am sticking with my Les Paul. I am not an elitist.... I love my Washburn Acoustics... I'd put them up against anything.

I just bought a WD42S off of Ebay advertised as new.If I lay it on its back and look at the top in the light, I can find a couple of dimples here and there. But you can tell the guitar was finished from the factory and they are not repairs. Structurally the guitar is sound, set up was perfect, and everyday I play it, it sounds that much better than the day before.I play proffesionally and have no problem putting it thru the rigors of the road. So for 238.00 with a hard shell case I can hardly cry theif.

Acoustic Guitar Players Post Comments & Questions / WD42S
« on: February 24, 2006, 11:47:59 PM »
Anybody out there know if the WD42s has the Buzz Feiten system on it. It was advertised as such, but it doesn't say anything about it on the back of the headstock where there is usually a stamp.[?]

I think its great but the question I have about it is whether or not it has the Buzz Feiten system on it. I got mine off ebay brand new for little more than a song...with a case. It was advertised as having such, but it doesn't say it on the back of the headstock...so I am kind of at a loss on that one. Mine played incredible right out of the box, and its probably the best looking acoustic I've ever owned, and best sounding for that matter. It has a solid top so I expect it to improve even more with age.[^]
