I have a D-66SW Prairie Song Custom from 1979 and I want to find out the Fretboard Radius. I don't have gauges. My guess is 16".
Anybody here measured or knows the Radius on their Prairie Song or Timber Ridge or Washie Dread from the same period?

Hi all!
Many if not most pictures on this forum are links to photobucket.com.
It seems that in the near future PB will change their conditions and require any user to upgrade to a 399$/year subscription plan to keep those links intact. I guess that most will not do that and so this forum will loose a lot of information. Too bad.. :-X

Vintage and Rare Washburns / D-61SW12 Prairie Song 12-String
« on: January 30, 2016, 08:03:25 PM »
Just bought a D-61SW12 for 100eur.
I haven't played it yet, it has to wait a few weeks until I pick it up from where it's stored now.
My first 12-string and the only instrument without maple body in my current collection  ;)
I hope there are no problems with the neck angle, otherwise it will be a very nice deco object.
It looks like this:

Any body played a model like this?

Hi Forum,
last week I noticed that all pages from http://www.vintagewashburn.com (jim smith's site) don't work anymore!
It looks like the domain is for sale.
Very sad, it was a great resource for Washburn history.

Hi forum,
I may have to pick up a used D-61 SW-12 (approx. 1992) in a few days and I don't know if my hardcase will fit.
Can anyone check the length of his similar Washburn Dread 12-String with V-Headstock?
That would be cool!

Vintage and Rare Washburns / D-30-SN (cedar/bird's eye maple)
« on: November 12, 2015, 05:14:10 PM »
Just bought a new old guitar off an internet board  :)
Stamped inside as D-30-SN
Serial #92326 on the headstock and 184 on the upper bracing.
Is it from 1989 or 1992? Anybody here who knows where an when she was made?

It fits to the description of a D-30 S (Second Version), with solid cedar top and bird's eye maple back & sides. Looks in detail like the ones from tio kimo and bikerdave here on this forum, except the MIJ sticker..http://forums.washburn.com/index.php/topic,18010.msg119560.html#msg119560
She has some marks all around, worst are on the top. Nothing structural though.
Intonation is a bit off. Nut and saddle (bone) will need some fixing by a luthier.

The sound is mellow and dark, but with a lot of sparkle and attack.
The colors of the woods are really, really nicely darkened by age. It is made of honey  :D
*The striped cedar grain on the top is amazing*

Hope you enjoy!
Any hints and comments welcome.

Show Us Your Washburn / My Washburn D-20s/n
« on: November 01, 2015, 06:55:56 PM »
My Washburn D-20s/n, solid spruce top, maple back & sides, bought new 1989, built 1988 according to serial number.
It's my first own guitar, payed with the money from a summer job when I was 16.
The frets are very worn, I think of getting them fixed.
I love her sound and it looks beautiful!
I installed a tusq saddle recently and it sounds even better.

Here are some pictures from the couch:  ;D

Vintage and Rare Washburns / Shaved vs scalloped bracing
« on: October 24, 2015, 04:25:34 PM »
Hi Folks
In the old washburn catalogue from 1986 they speak of
"Scalloped lightweight spruce bracing" (models D-20, D25)
and
"Aged lightweight shaved bracing" (models D-28 and up)
What's the difference and what can be expected in the sound?

Thanks and cheers!
Felix

Vintage and Rare Washburns / D25 '80s ?
« on: October 19, 2015, 06:53:05 PM »
Hi forum!
I'm new here and was wondering if anybody knows more of this guitar i was offered:
Stamp on bracing inside says D25 to the right of the wb logo to the left 80850
Seller claims it's a D25 s/n whoch would mean solid top, but online pictures don'mt match.
Thanks!
