Acoustic Guitar Players Post Comments & Questions / guitar sizes
« on: May 26, 2015, 06:25:27 PM »
Which guitar size is one size smaller than a dreadnought, and which Washburn models would fall into this smaller size? Having some shoulder problems hanging over the top, and I was wondering if going a size down would ease the problem.

General Discussion / constantly logging in

It seems lately I have to log in each time I access the forum. I know in the past this was a topic of discussion but I can't find the topic or I've overlooked it. Can someone point me in the right direction to avoiding this having to log in each time I check the forum?  murph

Post your thoughts on Banjos & Mandolins / ??????

I've been trying to learn the mandolin. I guess there's more to the old bromide , You can't teach an old dog new tricks. I find it harder to learn than I thought. Maybe because I don't seem to apply myself, as well as I did when learning the guitar   I really don't have anything in particular to say about mandolins I just wanted to bump that junk dealer with his spam off the top spot to move him along. I'm surprised the web guy hasn't bumped his -$$ off of the forum. He's in every section with his junk.

General Discussion / What happened to the menu for acoustic guitars
« on: January 21, 2009, 11:24:07 AM »
The last few days I've had trouble accessing the accoustic forum. When I bring up the forums I get everyone except the accoustic forum menu. The heading is there and when its clicked I get a a history of when I last accessed the forum. I can only get in thru the active topics heading, and thats it. Am I the only one having trouble accessing the accoustic forum.

I've been pleased with the newly designed forum up until tonight. When it was first unveiled it was easy to read. I read of others complaining about the color combinations, I wondered what the hell they were talking about.  Tonight when I got on the forum, I found the colors blue on black and blue on red impossible to read. I dare the designer of the new forum to read what is printed in these colors. How could it have changed overnight from easily read to impossible to to read.

Post your thoughts on Banjos & Mandolins / new mandolin player
« on: July 17, 2008, 11:22:52 PM »
I'm a mandolin neophyte and just got my first mandolin. I was wondering if they are setup like you would a guitar. Whats the best height for the strings at a certain fret, etc, etc.I've looked on the internet and I can't find anything on setup dimensions. Also, are there any best books to learn how to get started?

I would like to learn to play with altered tuning. Is there any books or favored web sites where I could pick up the techniques of altered tuning. What I was wondering if I use altered tuning, do I have to re-learn the fret board because the notes played may have shifted a fret or two? Is it easier to play some songs with altered tuning?

I just bought a D10SCE washburn electric acoustic, and am wondering about the bass, treble, middle and presence tone controls. I am not familiar with setting them, especially the Presence designation.I prefer country music and wonder what are the optimum postions to use. Also, which way is full on and full off. I wrote the company for some explanation and either the E-Mail got lost or in their arrogance they thought it was too dumb a question to be answered.
I'm fairly new at guitars and I would appreciate any help I can get
