General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / Magnetic Pole Polarity VCC
« on: September 26, 2009, 04:22:39 AM »
The VCC system was a pile of crap. Volume controls would not turn the sound down completely unless both volume controls were used.

The pickup polarity was wrong.

The bridge saddles were backwards.

I got rid of the VCC and wired my Gibson pickups in traditional Gibson fashion with bumblebee caps.

The stock pickups are paper weights now.

I dismantled the bridge saddles and flipped them around the correct way. Not only were they backwards, the saddle screws were not fully seated into the bar.

Quality control sucks.

I notice that the stock neck and bridge pickups will attract each others adjustable pole pieces when placed face to face on my WI-64.

My Gibson Les Paul Studio's pickups are just the opposite. The adjustible pole pieces of the neck and bridge pickups will repel each other when placed fac to face.

I want to put the Gibson pickups in the Washburn, but will this be a problem? Do I need to flip the magnet in the Gibson pickup, or is there a flaw in the stock neck pickup?

Yes I bought it new a few years ago from zzounds. No mods yet, but am thinking of putting different pickups in.

I have a WI64. I notice when a PU is selected, with volume and tone turned all the way down, there is still sound coming out.

This only happens if the volume of the unselected PU is turned up.

Is this normal?
