I have a CT-3 [P3],which has a somewhat thinner solid wood [sapale] body than that of the thicker CT-4 [P4] and CT-5 [P5]. While I'm pretty sure that the CT-5/P5 was chambered,I really don't know about the CT-4/P4.

General Discussion / Re: Just Got a CTS, any info?

Nice score! My son has a USA '99 Washburn CT3,which I believe is one step up the Centurian line food chain from the CTS.It's a great guitar with a tone [to my ears] that's a cross between a Les Paul and an SG. My son found the stock Duncan Custom Custom/'59 pickups to be a bit too dark for his taste and swapped them out for a killer sounding set of Duncan Antiquity pickups. He plays mostly through a dark sounding amp [Mesa/Boogie Studio 22+],so thru a brighter voiced amp the stock pickup combo might sound ideal.Good luck and enjoy your CTS!

Nice guitar!Btw,I have a sweet '99 WM Standard in honey quilt.Only thing I've had done is swap in a pair of open coil zebra Duncans [Custom 5/'59],which I feel look really cool on figured maple top guitars.

...When was this made? Are the single coils also duncan"s?...

I had the same guitar in the exact same color. Most likely from '98 or '99 [mine was a '98].The bridge humbucker is a Duncan Custom Custom and the single coils are Duncan SSL-5 Custom's.I evently modded mine with a Duncan Custom Shop Antiquity spec PAF [with fresh chrome cover] and Duncan Vintage Lipstick's at the mid/neck.Also added some chrome "Tele" dome knobs and a chrome 5-way switch tip to classy results.Had to sell it to pay a large tax bill a few years back and still miss it.Btw,nogin007,mine was on the light side.

Just picked up a clean '96 USA XB900 bass in natural ash with Bartolini pickups/active EQ system.Loving the bass, but am a bit lost as to what the different knobs control [other than the master volume].XB900 owners have any tips?

My son has a CT3 in colbalt blue that feels like it's sapele body is solid. The guitar gets real close to the fat/chewy tones that I get from my Les Paul Standard, even with the CT3's thinline body profile. As for the thicker bodied P4/CT4's,I've read that they could well be weight relieved/chambered.Not really sure about such...Sorry.

The only thing I did to my '07 WI70 Pilsen XL was swap the bridge SH-11 Custom Custom for a SH-14 Custom 5.I like the way it balances better [to my ears] with the neck '59.

Have you tried contacting Washburn Customer Service?I was able to get a case for my WI70 Pilsen XL from Funky Munky Music,an authorized Washburn Dealer.I believe that it was a GC37.

My son has a USA Washburn CT-3,which is basically the same guitar. His is in colbalt blue, plus he changed out the CC/Jazz pickups for some nickel covered Seymour Duncan Custom Shop PAF's.It is indeed one sweet sounding and great playing guitar. It does the Les Paul thing extremely well.

Is the Washburn WMJ20SCE considered a Baby Jumbo?I see it listed as a Mini Jumbo at online retailers. Also, does anyone know if a Baby or Mini Jumbo uses a dreadnaught case?

Does anyone know if the mini-jumbo would use the same case as for a dreadnaught?I'm considering buying a Washburn WMJ-20SCE mini-jumbo,which is sold at the same street price of $299 as the dreadnaught body WD-20SCE.Sorry for any perceived derail of this thread.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / Compressor pedal
« on: November 30, 2009, 01:36:28 PM »
Even though my main comp pedal is the relatively pricey Carl Martin Comp/Limiter,I often use my Rocktron Big Crush compressor to really nice results. It's quiet up until it get's close to the top of it's gain range, plus it can add a decent amount of clean boost,as well.It works well for both clean tones and for smoothing out and adding sustain to higher gain settings.I bought my clean Big Crush pedal on Ebay for just under $30 late last year.
