General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / Idol I66 vs I67
« on: April 06, 2008, 11:26:49 AM »
for those of you who may own both, or have played both....is there a difference in sound between the two due to the chambered body of the I67?

And for those with a I67 and other electrics in general....what made you choose the I67? When do you choose to play that as opposed to your other guitars?

I'm new to electrics, and therefore to the I67. I absolutely love this guitar, and spend WAY too much time playing her. This is a whole new world, when I'm not playing, I'm online reading about pickups, pedals and amps. I'm completely obsessed (ok, i'm exagerating...but only a little)

For years I've been playing in ensembles with my acoustic, and only took the (electric) plunge when i saw this thing on consignment in the shop where I buy strings. It was love at first sight. I talked to a couple of pro  friends, told them how it was equipped, and it's price, and on there strong recommendations, I went back and snagged it. I haven't seen my girlfriend since. Instead I bought a modeling amp to begin my journey with, and an I.V. apparatus for nourishment.

God knows where it will end. I can envision a home filled with guitars (a la Burner) but for the fact that I won't have a job (no money) because i keep calling in sick to stay home and play!

i really like that top. If it were mine, I'd put the black tele knobs and a black 3way switch knob on it. Probably black pickup rings too, draw out the black lines of the wood. I already know I'd love the guitar musically, as it's identical to mine, although a pound heavier cuz of the solid body.

actually, that raises a question...anyone know if there is a tonal difference between the I66 and I67, due to the chambers on the I67?

Anyway, she's a beauty.

i haven't the slightest, but i can tell you this, that is gorgeous! Pull that thing out of it's case in, say, Humboldt CA or someplace similar and they'll throw red paint on you! I would trade my quilted -67 for that (don't tell her i said so)

I would try sending a request to a boutique luthier of acoustics. only because they're likely to recognize the grain if it's anything remotely  well known.

try this guy for example,http://www.bischoffguitars.com/ personally makes each and every guitar himself (my first call after my lottery ticket hits)

or this guy http://www.pantheonguitars.com/

they may know from sight, where the customer service reps at US Music are simply referenceing a database.

Either way, you've got a great guitar there. Enjoy it.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / GC5 hard case
« on: March 30, 2008, 12:50:16 PM »
Thanks for the feedback Ed. I believe GENERALLY the pilsen and the I-67 are  the same dimensions, correct?

I bought a case, marked (with a tag)as a GC5, told it would fit a I-64.

I can get the guitar in there, but I would not consider it a fit. It takes a shoehorn, and it doesn't close easily. It looks like this.... http://http://www.washburn.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10609&SearchTerms=idol,talk

scroll down to shaulin's post on first page.....

is that the fit you have on your pilsen?

based soley on pictures, the profile in the case looks like the Paul Stanley guitar profile...narrower top bout

Washburn is telling me this was originally designed for a P series bass. Can anyone corroborate that?

Hello All,
bumping this to the top with a question i have yet to see referenced, although with time I'm sure I'd find it(my eyes are burning digesting eveything I'm finding here...AWESOME).

I have an '03 WI-67PROTS, and the spec says that the bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan TB-11 U.S.A. pickup, and the neck is the '59 reissue. Is that bridge pickup the custom custom i see mentioned or something different?

Also, on the semi-hollow 67's... Looks like they're no longer in the line....how many years were they offered? I see that alot of you have that model as well as other korean's, how do they compare?

hello all. hoping for a little assistance here. Can you tell me the general dimensions of your guitars BODIES?

I'm under the impression that all the idol's have the same basic dimensions, but a recent purchase has called that into question. (more on that later)

specifically, if possible, WI64 vs. WI67Pro, but since the 67 is just a semi-hollow 66, those dimensions should suffice.

Dimensions:
-upper bout
-waist
-lower bout
-thickness(of body where it meets the neck)

thanks in advance!

Cheers
