Jeff, if that holds true, then the WD48S should be solid top only, not solid wood as stated by the Washburn folks. Pike

Hi Brian, mine will be here Monday. Should be interesting to see which it is. What's a scarf joint? Why don't you call Washburn, they should know what the difference is. Pike

I think that is why the SW's are solid wood, and the S's are solid top. I'm gonna be taking a long hard look at my WD56SW when it gets here.

Yea Rick, there seems to be 5 pieces making up the inside of the back, including one that is almost white all the way inside, what is that? I'll guarantee ya' that isn't a piece of rosewood of any kind. Then the purple and black piece with the ultra wide grain, what is that? I think I'm gonna call Washburn on their #@*!. Don't get me wrong, the guitar is great for the money, just not solid wood as they swore to me it is! Gonna wait till you get yours, see what she tells you. I packed mine up to ship back, wish I had more time, I'd take it to a luthier and get thier opinion. I just wish they didn't tell me it was solid wood. I'd be OK with it. Pike

Here is what I got back from Washburn on the WD48S after sending them the photos.

This is solid wood in thickness . It is not one piece. Solid wood means is not a laminate but solid wood of one type. This can be multiple pieces of one type and then book matched on the top or the sides. Solid and laminate are the terms used in all guitars

OK, spoke with Washburn again. They swear the WD48Ss is solid wood throughout. They requested the photos. I sent 'em. They'll reply. I'll post it. Pike
