Ya ever wish that you could insert a disk in the back of your head and be able to play a particular song?  'Course you would want to have the choice to Run, or Save, and you would want there to be different versions available, by genre.  And if you can't sing, you could buy a vocal plug-in and install it!

Nah, guess it probably won't work! [:D]

Found this on ebay and I'm considering placing a bid, but I won't go beyond $150, is it worth that? I don't know what model it is and the seller doesn't give much information so I emailed him, haven't gotten a reply though.  It needs work, the tuners need to be replaced and I would have to get rid of those ugly Jesus decals and probably do lots of cleaning and polishing.

Whad'ya all think?

Acoustic Guitar Players Post Comments & Questions / So what about pine?
« on: October 17, 2007, 11:10:05 PM »
In a recent post, Dugly asked why cherry wood wasn't used in acoustic guitars, well I have the same question about pine?

Speaking of instruments made out of pine, here's one of my favorite old Tom Rush songs, turn up your speakers!

Acoustic Guitar Players Post Comments & Questions / Wrong Forum?
« on: September 22, 2007, 05:41:52 AM »
Perhaps I should post this question in the electric forum, but I feel more comfortable here! [:)]

I want to purchase a hollow body electric and I only have about $300 to spend, what can I get for this?

I want the best bang for the buck so it doesn't have to be new, but the problem I have is understanding what to look for?  I know what to look for when it comes to acoustics but electrics are a mystery to me, what kind of variables come into play?  There are lots of hollow body guitars available in my price range but I don't understand what the difference is between cheap models and expensive models, seems to me like the differences aren't as important as they are when choosing an acoustic??

Enlighten me, what do I need to know/learn?

I just got my new Martin OM-21 and I was just getting used to her, then last night I sprained my wrist, or tore a ligament trying to twist off a wine-cooler cap!  I can't do anything with my right hand, I can barely operate a mouse! Why do they call them twist-offs?  I'm gonna' sue Bartles & James!! [:(!]  All I need is a good attorney, hint hint, nudge nudge!

Acoustic Guitar Players Post Comments & Questions / (way OT) The Falling Man
« on: September 11, 2007, 03:22:23 AM »
I watched a very disturbing and poignant program tonight called The Falling Man and there I was again: Never Forget, Can't Cry Hard Enough!  I didn't want to watch it and it turned out to be every bit as painful as I imagined it would be, but I don't regret watching it, which kind of surprises me.

I've been an amateur photographer for nearly my entire life and I know what kind of power an image can have, it can change things!

I'm depressed!

Hi all,

I want to purchase a hybrid classical and I have a couple of models in mind: an Epiphone all solid wood and a Fender with a solid top and laminate sides & back; the Epi is $650 and the Fender is $320!

I don't want to spend a lot of money, so the Fender is looking attractive, but if an all solid-wood model makes a big difference, I'll wait 'til I can afford that.

If Washburn made one with a narrow nut, I would certainly be looking at it.  Wake up Washburn! [:)]

Opinions?

I found this posted in a guitar Newsgroup and it gave me a chuckle![:D]

I bought this new 2007 Cadillac and returned it to the dealer the next day, complaining that I couldn't figure outhow the radio worked. The salesman explained that the radio was voice ativated.

Watch this! He said, Nelson! The Radio replied, Ricky or Willie?  Willie!, he continued and On The Road Again came from the speakers.  Then he said, Ray Charles!, and in an instant Georgia On My Mind replaced Willie Nelson.

I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say,
Beethoven, I'd Get beautiful classical music, and if I said, Beatles, I'd get one of their awesome songs.

Yesterday, a couple ran a red light and nearly creamed my new car, but I swerved in Time to avoid them. I yelled, a*****es!

Immediately the French National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand, backed up by Michael Moore and the Dixie Chicks, with John Kerry on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica, Nancy Pelosi on tambourine, Bill Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy on scotch.

Damn, I LOVE this New Car.....

For Shiner: don't know what this has to do with it really, but my ex grandfather-in-law told me that old age is always 10 years away!  How true that is when you think about it.

My biggest influence was the music of the 70's!  Uh, let's see, favorite rock band: The Alan Parsons Project!  Then there was Al Stewart (I loved Roads To Moscow and Year of the Cat), Harry Chapin, my favorite story teller (Taxi & Better Place To Be), Steve Goodman, John Prine, Kate Wolf, Tom Waits, Louden Wainright, Jerry Jeff Walker, Janis Ian, Gordon Lightfoot, Hoyt Axton, Joni Mitchell, Supertramp, Tom Rush, Townes Van Zandt, and so many more.

I think the 70's was a very diverse decade in music, but maybe it's just the stage of age that we were living in and what was going on in our lives at the time, or perhaps we have a 10 year window when we're the most impressionable music-wise? Whatever the reason is, I guess that the 70's was my niche.
