Title: WI66Pro Upgrade Wiring Question
Post by: TurnItUp on September 22, 2009, 06:24:41 AM
I have had the WI66Pro about a year and was never too fond of the VVC. Reading about the electronic upgrade mod on this forum, I purchased the Les Paul electronic upgrade kit from RS Guitar Works along with 2 push/pull tone pots to split the Humbuckers. This was my first attempt at this type of modification so ripping out the wiring, pots and switches of a perfectly working guitar was an interesting experience to say the least.

Working from the wiring diagram on the Seymour Duncan website:
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=2h_2v_2t_3w_2pp everything installed without a hitch, except for one problem.

My push/pull pots seam to be working backwards. Pulling up on the pots selects my humbuckers and pushing down on them gives me my single coils. If I'm not mistaken shouldn't the down position be the humbuckers and he up position be the single coils??? I have checked and re-checked my wiring and everything is exactly like the wiring diagram. At least I believe it is.

So, what I'm I doing wrong??

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I figured it out. A push/pull pot is the same as DPDT. The contacts on a DPDT operate in the opposite way. If you want split mode (single coil) when the pot is in the up position use the center and bottom terminals. I was using the top terminal as the ground.
