Title: X50 Pups upgrade?
Post by: Manfred on October 25, 2013, 09:23:11 AM
I recently bought a Korean X50, mint condition and really cheap £80 GBP.
I wanted a modern looking guitar with a different sound to my 68 Les Paul SG and a 2004 USA standard Strat.
Would anyone recommend upgrading the W 621 and W 623 pups to SD pups, if so what models?.
I live in the real world and don't expect to get a sound quality approaching what I'm used too but, I really enjoy playing this Washburn; awesome.

I have both Korean and Indo , check here , you hit quite a bargain for 80 GBP !!!!! The 81/85 set of EMG's is a safe choice, also the standard Duncan JB bridge/Jazz neck is road-tested. The guitar is super, don't let anyone tell you the opposite, I also had a Les Paul Std 1993 for 12 yrs (bought new!) but I sold it, never again in Gibson camp. I got a Washburn USA PI70b, it's way better! Also the X50's are great guitars and very underrated

You gotva good deal. IMO x50's are hugely underrated guitars. But yes I would dump those pickups! As for to replace with thats your choice. No one knows what you hear but you. I play hard rock / metal been putting SD'S in but just switched to Dimarzio gravity storms. Extremely happy with them. Enjoy I know you will!
