Title: WTB: N4
Post by: Shamrock83 on January 30, 2014, 03:05:17 PM
I've decided to get an N4. I'd like one without the big N4 text on it. I want a natural-colored one, not a fan of the red ones I've seen. Other than that I'm fair game. I'm located in the USA  :)

Just seen one on eBay today.  Tom.  :)

Those are brand new though. There's another colored one, but I want a wood-colored one, used  :)

I understand, 1,500 to 3,000 +,     There is a N2 starting at or buy now for about 125.00.     Tom.  :)

Don't think they get much cheaper.    Tom.  :)    http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store-Used-USED-WASHBURN-N4-NUNO-BETTENCOURT-MODEL-109694001-i3562556.gc

One went on Ebay for $850 recently. Wish I'd have caught that one!

Man don't go to ebay and just type in N2 for a short cut.    here is a n2 that looks good but bolt on neck and modified.  Tom.  :)   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Washburn-N2-Nuno-Bettencourt-Signature-Electric-Guitar-Nice-03-Model-Upgraded-/301081006444?pt=Guitar&hash=item4619d3916c

Those N2s are incredibly tempting for the price... but I'm gonna have to go with an N4 so I can get the 'full' experience  ;)

I agree, buy the best, then you don't have to go back and , buy a second time. LOL.   Tom.  :)

I called Guitar Center and they said it comes with a case, but it's apparently not the original. They're asking $1100 for it, but I just can't do it.

I saw some other N4s sell for as cheap as $630 on Ebay's Sold listings, with the average being about $850-$900 or so in good condition w/case. I may be willing to go around $1k (shipped) if it's in great condition and has the original case, so I think I'm gonna have to wait on this one.

Did you offer them 900.00 or a 1,000? It looks like they would go down a 100.00 or so to make a quick sale.   Shipping is already free.       Tom. :)

Actually, I'd have to pay both shipping AND taxes, so that's why I'm skipping this one. They've always done that every time I order a used piece no matter which state you're in. I did ask them if they could come down but they said they can't until June, for whatever reason.

I'm gonna leave this thread open until I acquire one. Hopefully someone will notice it sometime and offer up a good deal  ;)

I wonder why it says free shipping at the top of the page.  Sounds misleading.  At the local pawn shop, the wait so many months than it goes down so much of a percent, each of the few months till it sells.  Wow as big as guitar center is, you would think they would do what they say.   Good luck and hope you find just the rite one for you.   Tom.  :)  Yes is misleading, went and read the fine print, not free on used stuff.

Luckily I just snagged one. '97 swamp ash. What would you want for yours out of curiosity?

Thanks. To be honest I'm not really sure what the value is. I'm not super in touch with the value of these guitars and I haven't seen many of these for sale to compare with. Plus, the ones I do see are either brand new (really expensive), or used but not as in nice condition. I'm thinking the fact that it is an early one might make it a little more valuable than some of the others I've seen for sale...but not sure how much.

Thanks,
Paul

I think you're a bit optimistic there, only really excellent condition Davies models get that kind of price. 800 - 1000 is more apt, though I have seen them sell for as little as 400.

Thank you for the feedback. As I said I wasn't sure on price...so it's good to hear other's opinions on value. Now I know what to expect :) , although I do think mine is worth more than the one on GC right now for 1100 which doesn't even have the original case.

...oh, and i do have an excellent condition Davies model also, but that one is not for sale. i hate to sell this one, but i have two almost identical guitars and have my eye on something else.

If you have a Davies you're a lucky guy, and that's a real keeper.  Please bear in mind GC is a retailer and thus that is retail price - private sales will always be lower. If GC are advertising 1100 they'll take 1000 and most likely paid 600 - 650 for it. Not the best time in the market at the moment....could be more lucrative when things pick up some.

I don't think that's a '91.  What's the serial#?

i think i got a picture of the serial number....91120022

I did also notice something interesting about the guitar. It seems to have some Davies characteristics and some non-Davies characteristic. Perhaps it's a hybrid? I started another thread on this subject.
