Make sure it's perfectly in tune. Replace the batteries. If none of this has worked, play around with the amp settings. Change the strings. I would NOT buy a new amplifier, try everything else before you drop $175 on a new amp. I have an x33, and none of this has happened to me[:D]

Could be a lot or reasons.  That's not something that can be determined via email really, you need to have a tech look at it to determine the cause.

They're standard humbucking pickups, which ones you wish to get is a matter of preference, most humbucking pickups will fit into the cavity.

deltacaster is exactly right... but if I may, I would suggest you check out the Seymour Suncan users forum at http://www.seymourduncan.com/forum
These guys have a lot of experience and someone there can tell you the best pickups based on the type of guitar and the style of music you want to play.
The best thing about this forum is that even though they are hosted by Seymour Duncan, the people there also use Dimarzio and other pickups.
Also, if you go into the Seymour Duncan site itself, they have sound clips of their pickups for you to listen to.  They also videos showing you how to change out pickups (which can be a little scary at first - but really not all that bad)

Good luck,
Rick
