Nice pair. A couple of questions. How do the single coils sould? And what do you use for an anchor point on the reduced pickguard, at the bridge?

It's like an orchestra of telecasters in a huge hall if that makes any sense. The pups are sensitive and full. The anchor point is a little secret I picked up from Mr. D'aquisto. just a ring of felt in the right place....

squint- im thinking about heading into the jazz-y direction. how do these hold up against... sayyy an artcore or even a low end gretch?

I'm not really impressed with low end Gretschs, but the Ibanez AF series is really nice for a Chinese mfr. The fretboard is wider on the Ibanez which is good if you have large fingers, but these J9s are so different from each other, they cover almost all of the sounds I need. You could get an Oscar Schmidt and add the GFS Dream 90 pickups to it, and you'll have a super rockabilly OS or Gretsch without the price tag.

Hey, Fretless has dibs on my brand new AF86, but if you like it, I'll check with him and see if he's still interested and if not, I'll give you the family price. This Ibanez can do it all...

Hi all first post here and I need help!  About 6 years ago I purchased this wonderful Washburn J9 Washington.  I am very happy with the guitar and play it on a daily basis.  Here is my dilemma, I have not been able to locate one guitar with the particular finish of this guitar nor found anyone that knows anything about my guitar.  I had several E mail conversations with Washburn customer service and all I was advised was wow i have never seen one like that and I have no information on it for you Lots of help there....Hopefully someone can tell me why I cant find anything like it anywhere.

Thanks

Tnx magoo, it's become a real favorite.  BTW, I've owned this J9 for a bit over 7 years now.

Funny thing, and a bit surprising: Usually if I ask people which of my guitars they like the sound of best, I get different answers.  I'm presently playing in an 8-piece group that carries a soundman, electrician and 3-4 roadies, and every one of them strongly prefers the sound of this J9... as do I for all-around.  It's just got something, don't know what... but something good.... :D

I can't believe I missed this guy's Orange beauty!

Teach me to read my own threads more...

I have noticed that my J9 with the GFS dream 90's, has been taking almost all of my electric time these days. It's also the first vibrato tailpiece that I've ever owned that actually stays in tune when I play live... which isn't very often.

The J9's do have something special about them, that's for sure.

If you can find one on eBay, I would highly recommend it!

a HI there The back and sides
are black in almost mint condition. I bought the guitar recently the guy
I bought it from said he purchased it from a guy who said  it was part
of Roy Woods  Wizard,The Move ELO private collection although there
is no documented evidence to support this.I did'nt buy the J9 for this
reason I bought it because I sold a J9 a while ago and although I have
many guitars I missed the J9, It's a big guitar with a good sound and a
fast neck and it's pure rock and roll to me.  Alan

J9, Squint is tied up right now on a project, I will let him know about your great find, that was a steal my friend, but hey don't feel quilty it happens to the best, as for a pick-guard he might have an original one as I remember he swapped one out for a custom piece he made or had made can't remember for the life of me, but you know what they say it dont mean a thing with-out pictures so put them up baby, so we can all drool over your great find and only lots of pictures will make up for not posting them sooner than later.louis

Hey Steelmanjim, I have always said Mike pays attention to most of our needs and has gone beyond what some other Customer Service Reps from other Makers would have, over the years I have seen Mike help lots of lost souls looking for warranty work or parts, and when I had problems with my Rover he was right there and even more so, so I agree we need to take our collective hats off and give a HUGH thanks for  Mike and all the hard work he does for us and the forum, and Mike at least be greatful that your first name isn't Stacy or else they would be sending you flowers and candy and asking you out (sorry deltacaster couldn't help myself[:o)] ).louis
