Vintage and Rare Washburns / Beckmen imports
« on: March 31, 2011, 05:18:07 AM »
I have another early Beckmen import.  It is a 12 string dreadnought looking and constructed similar to the Washburn W-220 model.... the inside label reading in large block letters Delta (model name-as on the headstock) and below that Beckmen Musical Instruments Inc and made in Japan.  The bridge has a trapeze tailpiece with bone saddle.  Made, I assume in the early to mid 70's.  What I am wondering if is anyone knows if it was manufactured in the same factory as these early Washburns and where that might have been in Japan.

D10 Series / D10 Letter Designations

I am going to look at a what is claimed to be a D10  (no letters afterwards) 12 string w/o electronics...I think I can potentially pick this up for like 80 bucks...Now my question is: I see 2 12 strings for sale new on Amazon, one being a Washburn D10 Series 12 String Acoustic Guitar for like $400 and the other a D10S Series 12 String Acoustic Guitar that looks and specs the same but is a little cheaper....I know what the S means but what does it mean when there is NO letter after number?
Post Note:  I went to see it...huge crack all the across the lower part of neck...huge...a phillips head screw drilled into that baby...unrepairable...trailer trash crap...and it was nothing like the online D10's...very old and trashed...none of this was model or serial number plated binding at all...I drove many miles to see it...the nerve of some folks!!...
