General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / Finish
« on: April 30, 2003, 12:59:36 AM »
Hi there

I'm goin to remove the finish on the back and sides of my BT-8 and just put a shellack mix on the mahogony. Now what I would appriciate is some tips on how to get it of the easiest way, without using chemicals.

I've heard that if the finish is polyurethane your supposed to be able to cut the finish of with a small knife. Then of course is this true and is the finish of a BT8 polyurethane?

(some more pictures on http://www.tomas-carlstrom.tk under Music scroll down to The Gear and then choose the washburn.)

I don't have a pic of the serial, but I can take if that is needed.

thanks

I guess this is posted alot but I didn't find it so I post it anyway. I bought me a BT-8 (that's what the price-tag said anyway, looked good and played good so I bought it) and looking at the serial thing under FAQ on washburns homepage it should be made in 1980 (BT-8 wasn't even made back then was it?). Now it does say some only one number to indicate year of make, but the serial has one number too much to fit in that category (same amount of numbers as the ones with 2 numbers to indicate year) but maybe it's just a high production number or?? Can someone help me out here please? I'm starting to confuse myself trying to explain lol

cheers
