Discuss Basses and Bass Playing / 1984 Force 8 Bass
« on: December 20, 2016, 04:43:07 PM »
Hi, as the title suggests I have a nice Bass which I am thinking of selling. I also have a Scavenger Bass which has been a friend for many years, but I've reached a point where I have a collection of nice guitars that are no longer played, mostly Washburns with the occasional Fender thrown in. If I do put them up for sale it would be nice to have a guesstimate of value from a player. PS I'm in the UK.

Vintage and Rare Washburns / KC 90 Gold Top ??????????????
« on: December 05, 2014, 03:54:08 AM »
Hi folks, I've just picked this Chicago Series KC model which is different from previous KC 90's by having binding and a solid gold sprayed top, (as opposed to the usual "See Through Honey Gold). Just wondering if anyone else has come across a similar model. Only arrived this morning so will take apart at the weekend and maybe learn more.

Scott Grove talks about reasonably priced guitars, and finally someone who gives Washburn credit. Check out from 11 minutes in, or watch the whole vid, some good reviews and praise for the early Uncle Mats also.

Discuss Basses and Bass Playing / Force 8 BBR 1984

Hi guys, had this a good few years now, used but not abused. Just about to replace the nut with a nice graphite one. These basses were built to last, nearly thirty years old and still up there with the big names for playability and sound. Quite a looker if that makes any difference.

UK Washburn Lovers Unite / N4 FOR SALE
« on: April 13, 2012, 06:56:11 AM »

Hi Folks,
a young player in my area has bought a used N4, he's left it with me to check over, set up, and get my opinion. Really nice guitar, but he's not happy with it, as it appears to be a put together from Funky Monkey or official parts from Washburns clearout. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it sound or playing wise, it's the finish of it he's not happy with, (Stain on the neck sanded off, the pics explain). Being honest about it, if I was still playing out, I wouldn't be writing this, I'd have bought it from him. Anyway the long and short of it is he wants to sell it, and I have asked him not to advertise it, until I've asked on the forum to see if anyone here is looking for a used N4 at a reasonable price.

I'm no expert on wood, but I think it's a Swamp Ash body.
This one's different pup wise with DiMarzio super distortion and distortion 2 pickups ( bridge, neck respectively). Very Metal.
Has a Schaller trem, Washburn tuners, and the usual Ebony board with very little fret ware.
The rear of the headstock does have numbers on it (which are difficult to see under the stain), but the first two numbers are 96.
The action is low, and the electrics all work perfectly.
The back trem cover is missing, but it does have the Trem Arm.
There is also a full set of Dimarzio Straplocks in the case.
It does have a Washburn case, but this has definately seen better days. It's good enough to protect it in transport, but is quite beaten up with bits missing etc.

He's asking four hundred quid for it, which he says he paid for it, given the quality of the hardware and the build, and sound, (whoever put it together) I think is a real fair deal, bordering on cheap.
He will post anywhere in the UK at agreed cost, but he doesn't mind if you wish to arrange the collection and delivery yourself, which would suit him better as you could then decide if you would prefer if insurance needs to be taken out.
The guitar plus case weighs in at over seven and a half kilos, so not a cheap bundle to send. He does have a Paypal account that belongs to a family member that could be used for the transaction, which guarantees both parties safety.

Anyway check out the pics, and PM me if you need to know anything else, or are interested. In the meantime I'm gonna plug in and play while I've got the chance.

UK Washburn Lovers Unite / RIP Jim Marshall
« on: April 06, 2012, 06:24:17 AM »
Really nice guy, when I lived in London many years ago I used to call into his small shop in Hanwell Broadway, he always had time for a chat, didn't matter if you were famous or not. He used to give drum lessons in the back room to people like Mitch Mitchell and others not quite so famous. I know we all gotta go sometime, but Jim Marshall and Les Paul showed so many folk "The Way" this is another sad loss to the music world.

Hi guys, has anyone seen, tried or even heard anything about the RX 80 model, in the UK. Had a chase round the usual suspects, but came up empty. As I'm a bit of a fan of the X series, I wouldn't mind just having a good look at this model for comparison >>
