Acoustic Guitar Players Post Comments & Questions / B-Band bass
« on: February 01, 2009, 03:45:20 PM »
I've been using my my mini jumbo almost primarily as an acoustic
unplugged and love it. The few times Ive been plugged in I've noticed the bass is is over bearing and at times pops, I have to almost cut the bass all the way down to point it's too weak. I have the action set very low, is the popping, the sound of the string hitting the next fret? I don't think its a electronic problem, the popping is being picked up.

I own electric guitars but have never even played an acoustic electric plugged in. Is this a common problem? Is it a B-Band characteristic.

Acoustic Guitar Players Post Comments & Questions / Washburn no respect

A couple of months ago I bought a D11 as a beater, for my daughter to bring to college I paid 100.00 on line. Great lami for the price.

I started looking around to try out some better Washburns, nobody carried them or had no stock. I live two hours from NYC.

I play mostly electric but I really enjoyed having the d11 around for a cheap lami it was very playable, love that D10 neck. I didn't want to spend alot on a guitar right now, I have two kids in college, so I started looking at some Chinese stuff.

All my friends that play acoustic said to forget about Washburns
and buy a Martin DM it's a no brainer. I tried the Dms (they are nice) and many other guitars at all the big box stores and many mom and pop shops, finally I found a D10s , the salesman hands me this guitar to try I didn't even know what it was, I said wow this is nice. I looked in side its a Washburn! Played and looked great. How much, he said 499.00 but I can give it to you for 399.00.

I didn't buy it instead a month later I bought a Washburn mini jumbo b stock, that's another story. (sweet little guitar)

To get back to the point of this thread. I found the couple of Washburns I was able to sample very nice guitars that seemed to me to have nicer quality than many of the other imports.  One of my friends who has more knowledge about acoustics told me most of the imports come from the same three factories in China. Is there any truth to this?

Why doesn't Washburn get more play from the big box stores when the D10 is suppost to be so popular, Are all my acoustic friends snobs?

The only other inexpensive guitar that impressed me as much as the d10 was the Seagull S6 I think was the model but the Washburn neck was nicer, maybe because I play alot of electric (Carvin)the S6 was chuncky.
