General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / What is this?
« on: February 19, 2007, 05:39:18 PM »
Just curious, as I'm not familiar with this model of the Maverick series.  I know about BTs, BillyTs and WMs, but this is a new one on me.  Plus it has a wierd serial number.

Any info?  Just curious - I'm not in the market.

Don't know if there are any other TSO fans here, but in case you don't know about it already here's a link to a contest they are having.  There are already a couple of Washburn players in the mix.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / What is this? Accept2??
« on: October 10, 2005, 08:24:59 PM »
I'm real curious about this one.  It says it's a 90s Wing re-issue, but there's no SB-15 in the archives and the serial # is all wrong.  It looks a lot like an original Falcon with the scooped heel, 5-piece neck thru, etc, but it's got the 90s logo, so could it be a one-off re-issue?

Any ideas?

I'm looking for info on the USA P-series guitars.  I currently have 2 favorites in the WM100 and Falcon.  They are very different guitars, but each has features that I like - WM has a much more comfortable thin wide neck, while the Falcon is heavier and has a carved top, making the body more comfortable and giving it a thicker tone.  None of the dealers in my area have ever carried a P so I've never seen one in person, but what I have read about the P3 & P4 looks to have the features that I like from the other 2 guitars.

Can anybody give me any info on how the P series compares to the WM and the Falcon?

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / Korea vs. China
« on: March 31, 2005, 05:49:00 PM »
Just curious if anybody has an opinion on this.

I hear Washburn moved some models from Korea to China, and I see lower list prices than the archives have for the same models.  Being a semi-hollow guy, I love my 1995 HB30, but I'm a sucker for flame, and am thinking about trying an HB35.  There is no Washburn dealer in my area that carries the HB35, so I can't just go pick one up & try it out.  But I just have the feeling that a new $899 list Chinese model probably doesn't measure up to the $1199 list Korean model.  (even though during the 90's the list price fluctuated, sometimes $1199, sometimes $899, so I'm not real sure what good list price is anyway.)

Any thoughts on all this?  China vs. Korea in general?  What are the odds a mid-90's model might be as good or better than a new one?  Any thoughts on the HB35 vs HB30?

Any input would be appreciated.

I'm guessing maybe a mis-informed seller?  Possibly he's selling 2 guitars & got the descriptions & pictures crossed up?  Or is the Wing really making a comeback?

Does this look like a deal?

Just curious.  Any info and/or opinions would be appreciated.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / Washburn prototypes
« on: September 24, 2004, 05:33:47 PM »
Just curious if anybody knows anything about this guitar, or about how Washburn generally handles this kind of thing.  Seller claims this guitar is a prototype that didn't make it into the lineup.

I'm just curious if Washburn would make what appears to be a pretty decent quality guitar, then choose not to produce that model but still sell the prototype through a dealer?  I have seen where other dealers claim to have Washburn prototypes for sale, but have always been scared of the quality - would they really put the time & effort into a one-time deal?  Who makes the prototypes - USA? Korea? China?  How often do they make a prototype for a brand new model?

IMO it's about time Washburn did something new - Idols & Xs are about all you see anymore.  Seems to me they would do better with more variety in the lineup of electrics.

Any info on how Washburn handles prototypes would be appreciated.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / Original Falcon
« on: July 01, 2004, 09:32:48 PM »
I've always wanted one of these ever since they first came out.  Finally, thanks to the modern convenience of ebay, I'm getting one!  Can't wait to get my hands on it.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / MGM?
« on: May 09, 2004, 01:16:25 PM »
So I had a few minutes to burn and was passing by my friendly neighborhood Washburn dealer after hours (50 miles away so I don't get there very often!) when I see some lights on & hope they may be open late.  No such luck, so all I got to so was look through the window.  Facing the showroom with it's back to the window was something that very much resembled my WM100 - similar shape, headstock, mahogany back (couldn't see the front, pickups, etc.).  On the back of the headstock was printed MGM-1, and there was no BF sticker.

Is anybody familiar with this model?  Is it new?  If not how old, etc?  Is it even a Washburn?  Maybe an OS version of the WM?  I'm just curious.

Discuss Basses and Bass Playing / AB's
« on: February 12, 2004, 09:17:31 PM »
Does anybody have any experience with any of the AB-series?  My local Washburn dealer doesn't cary them, so I've never played one in person.  I've seen them used in concerts (live and on TV), and have read ads, etc. but I have a hard time buying something on-line that I have no experience with.  Just curious about input from folks who play them.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / WM100 on the way!!!!
« on: December 03, 2003, 10:43:22 PM »
Wooo Hooo!  I just won an ebay auction for a WM100.  There are a lot of new WM's on there right now at ridiculously low prices for Chicago custom shop guitars.  I have had several lower-end Washburns and have been pleased with all of them.  I figure at the prices they are going for right now (around $400 or so) you can't go wrong.  We shall see.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / New Wings?
« on: November 22, 2003, 09:42:22 PM »
OK, how many times have I said Washbun needs to bring the Wing series back?  Check this out.

Don't know if a prototype would be that desireable, but could this mean the Wings may really be coming back?  Stay tuned...
