Hey all - I was just searching around on the Internet looking at guitars...  New Years Resolution - start learning to read music!  And I am wondering what the difference is between a dreadnought and a folk style guitar?  I know you all will know!

Ok guys!  We've got the humidifier installed and the hygrometer.  What is a good humidity range for the case?

....and I am pleased to say that HE LOVES IT!!!!  I'm glad I went with the Alvarez because the first thing he said was he never thought he'd have an Alvarez again...  He picked it up and started playing and we were late for Christmas dinner with my family :).  He said he's going to play a little bit each day to build up his fingers and he wants to take lessons.  Now - I think he plays GREAT and knows a ton of different songs but he says he needs lessons so in a couple of months we're going to look into that!  Thought I'd let you guys know!

Acoustic Guitar Players Post Comments & Questions / Humidifier

Ok - guys - I haven't picked up my husband's future new guitar but I will next weekend or the weekend after...  I'm so excited I can't stand it!!!  Now - I've heard about humidifiers and stuff for guitars - should I get one...  And if so, what should I get?  This is something else I know nothing about...  I just hope that my husband is as excited as I am about his guitar...  Oh, that's right - if he's not, I'll just keep it :)

Right now I'm getting some of my mom's old music books for piano that I had started learning on many, many years ago before they had to sell the piano...  I figure if I can just get back into that and learn then I'll be able to do better with the guitar....

Hello - I just found out the other day that my husband could play the guitar.  Yes, we have been married for six years and I know he mentioned it but I guess I hadn't paid attention.  He picked up a friend's son's guitar over the weekend and just started playing!  It was fantastic!  Everyone started to gather round to listen...

So - I want to buy him one for Christmas.  He did used to have one back in the day but due to some unfortunate circumstances had to sell it.  My husband isn't picky and would probably take anything...  But I want him to have something good!

I'm looking to spend up to $1,000 for something decent.  I know nothing about guitars so I am looking for lots of help.  I was looking at a local music store online to see what they had and these were the brands:

Oscar Schmidt
Carter Steel

I know the Washburn brand but haven't heard of any of the others.  I want him to have a good quality sounding guitar that is solid and you don't need to continuously tune.  Also - I need to know other accessories that I would need to start off with.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
