N Series (Nuno Bettencourt) / '91 N4 Davies for sale...
« on: April 12, 2010, 06:18:10 AM »
Hi Dave,

Sorry for not mailing ... you need a minimum number of posts to email here I guess.
So I'll try it here
Yes, the Davies is still for sale. Almost sold it this weekend but the buyer jumped off the deal.
The description in the other thread should display the guitar pretty well but if you need some more infos or pics, just tell me.
Again: This is a players instrument with some slight alterations (jack, non glossy protection coating..) wich has been on stage for some years and has its dings and dongs. It's in a good overall condition and most of all it sound and plays like it should. I always really loved the guitar for live and studio use but since I play mostly blues, ambient and electronic music, I have no use for a floyd rosed turbostrat any more :-)
I have no idea what it's worth, I just saw they sell the reissues for about $2K. So if you're interested, just make me an offer.
Shipping should be about $100 (Canada, right?) and you would need to take care of customs fees and taxes.
You can contact me via mail: frittenstenz-sound(at)yahoo.de

Let me know what you think
best

N Series (Nuno Bettencourt) / '91 N4 Davies for sale...
« on: April 06, 2010, 08:43:14 AM »

Hi there,
I'm thinking about selling my beloved Davies, because I don't really play it any more since my style has changed over the years.

I presented it here some time ago. Details can be seen in the thread
http://forums.washburn.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16396

Comes with the original neck PU of cause and the electonics and switch cavity covers. Trem Cover is missing.

Shipped in non original hardcase.

Guitar is located in germany.

Don't need to sell it urgently but would pass it on to a loving new home for a fair price.

No, it's not really glossy at all. It's just a thin coating it got over 10 years ago. It has some dings and dongs due to excessive stage use (e.g. some Marks of the trem arm between neck pu und toggle)... but otherwise it's in a pretty good shape.

I replaced the neck PU for a Gibson HB because I liked it better but I do have the original one of cause. The stars are just some rubber pad under the trem for protection which can be easily removed. The toggle and pot cavity covers are still there as well. Only the trem cover is missing.

If I'd sell it I'd set it back as original as possible. But as long as I keep it, it will remain the way it is :-)

Yes, the output jack might be not that great ... but I really hate the barrel things due to dropouts, so I has it changed. More than 10 Years ago as well.

So what do you guys think this guitar might be worth?

Thanks for the replies so far.

N4ESA_UK - you're right ... refinishing would be alot of work and I actually don't see the point in it for my self since the finishing works pretty good for me.

I actually dug out my N4 today, cleaned it, restringed it and set it up properly. It sounds and plyas absolutely killer ... much better than I remembered.

It's just the neck I really can't get used too. It's nice and wide but just too ... hmm ... flat I guess. I'm a thumb over player.

Well... I'll post a few pictures soon.

Hi there.
I just signed up because I'm curious about some Information on the N4 Davies.

I bought a 91 N4 in 94/95 ... not knowing that it would be a davies. It actually turned out to be one.
It's a great guitar and I used to play it alot on stage. But since I'm more kind of a fat neck hardtail/bigsby type of player, i think about selling it. It has been sitting in the case for some time now.

Due to the fact that it was supposed to be a player, I had my luthier do some small changes. I hat the neck and the body finished with a thin clear coat of laquer (protection) and the original jack was replaced by a swithcraft jack ... I hat no Idea it could be kind of a collectible one day.
It was used and it looks used ... but it's otherwise in a great shape

So, what do you think this guitar might be worth? Would it make sense to refinish (back to oil/wax) it before sale?

Thanks for your help. And if you have any questions to narrow things down ... go ahead.

Greetings from germany
.Steffen
