General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / bridge for old hb35s
« on: January 27, 2009, 02:23:46 PM »
i recently had my guitar tech change the saddles on my hb35's bridge. it is a 1991 hb35 - with the block inlays, rounded mickey mouse ears, pickup switch by the control knobs etc.

apparently this bridge fits the guitar :

http://www.wdmusic.com/tuneomatic_bridge_chrome_ge103dc.html

but since the bridge was chrome (and the original is goldplated), my tech merely switched the saddles - but he told me that the bridge fits the guitar.

btw if you buy it and it doesn't fit on your guitar, don't hold me responsible for it. you buy the bridge at your own risk. i'm just posting this as fyi as it works fine with my guitar.

with regards pickup swap for a semi hollow which i too am pondering over, i've been advised to get low or medium output pickups.

like the seymour duncan 59 set or the slash alnicos or even a jazz/59 combo (which instantly appealed to me). but i have also heard good things about the pearly gates and the phat cats on semi hollows.

i have an old mij hb35. any idea which aftermarket model would be a perfect drop in without any physical modification to the guitar?

appreciate the feedback.

btw the string through design with the wings kind of head stock - will it not degrade the sound? having holes in the back of the body?

six digits - starting with 91. has gibson open book kind of head stock, block inlays, rounded mickey mouse ears, toggle switch by the volume/tone knobs, 335 kind of pickguard. i have an older tobacco burst starting with 84 - same features. i bought the red one off ebay 2 weeks back - you should be able to see it in the completed listings.

General Discussion on Washburn Electric Guitars / Type of Bridge?

micheal did you replace the bridge? if so which one did you use?

hey did you manage to change the pots?

a few months back i took some short shaft cts pots to my guitar tech - but we could not get the pots in. the fholes were too small for it. and there was no space in the pickup cavity to push it in either.

micheal in correspondence with me told me that his tech was able to do it somehow - but it didnt work for me.

any insight on how it can be done will be much appreciated.

i actually bought a red one just last week. it is a 1991! i think that is pretty much the last year mij. my second one now - the other one is a 84 tobacco burst.

btw any idea about the tuneomatic on these hb35s and what would be the proper replacement for it?

13
your hb35 is heavy? my 83 mij is light! much lighter than most epi dots! lighter than my strat or les paul studio lite. around 7.5 lbs i would say.

14
beautiful without doubt. what does the label inside read? and where are you?

15
what size pot does the washburn have? can't we get the same size pots so that no physical modification has to be done to the guitar?
