Hey gang,

I just sold my Epi classical for $550, so now I have a case of subsidized GAS, who wants to help me spend my money?

I'm thinking that I want an Auditorium size & shape, a cutaway is not necessary, but something with a little bling.  Low action for weak wimpy fingers, a narrow nut for short wimpy fingers.  All solid wood?  Maybe someone can help me there.  Used or new, depends on the instrument.

So, let's go shopping!

Has Washburn ever made an Auditorium size/shaped guitar?

He likes to go out and explore this time of year so he's probably enjoying this beautiful Oregon weather: clear blue skies with white puffy clouds, never below 70 degrees, never above 80 degrees, 35% humidity and a light cool breeze off the Pacific ocean.  He'll be back when it starts raining again. :)

You know how GAS is?  It starts out accidently, it might be a quick spec of a glance of some guitar image, maybe on YouTube. maybe a picture in a magazine laying in a ditch, maybe in a TV ad, it really doesn't matter, if you're immune system is weak, all it takes is a nano-speck to embed itself deeply into the gas lobe of your brain where it sits and begins to devour your healthy gas cells and replace them with mutations.  It might take months to manifest itself into full blown GAS, but once it gets a foothold, there is no known treatment until you, well... I won't go there, you know where that leads.

So anyway, somewhere I ran across a chart that showed all the various acoustic guitar shapes & sizes and their namees, can somebody give me a link?  I think I feel a tiny little monster inside me.

Ha...you must not have kids.  He's 3.  Banging is inevitable man.

My oldest is 38, youngest is 26... and believe it or not, I was once one myself. All human behavior is subject to modification... for better or worse, depending on modifier.
Children are surprisingly adept at learning to play an instrument at a very early age which drops suddenly after age 12. Earlier is better.
Here's a couple of 5-year olds:

Well first on your list should be Steve Goodman, then consider Loudon Wainright and Tom Waits!  I could go on and on! :)

When was the last American made Washburn produced?  I'm sure that someone here can give us a short history lesson on American-manufactred Washburns.

There making some nice looking guitars and I visited my local wahsy dealer last week and seen some of jams gear around at great prices pretty good quality. Got one of their mic stands..not a great one but damn good for $20.
plus all the guys at the shop seemed to think it its a good thing.

Hope you're right Magoo!

Erm, Ray, I wouldn't exactly call the old washburn acoustics home grown.. There weren't any MIA models!

Besides, whats wrong with us?

Washburn N2, Washburn F10S
I've got some other stuff too.. Everything from guitars to a Balalaika.

Nothing wrong with Canada at all, you guys make some of the best guitars in the world, my point is that it seems whenever a company is absorbed by another company, they lose their identity and the next thing you know, they don't exist anymore.  I love my Ovation too, but it seems like since the company was bought by Fender, the marketing has shriveled up.

And as for being home-grown, there were a lot of american made Washburns, my god, the company was established back in the 1800's, if that doesn't make it Home Grown, what is your definition of home-grown?

So we lost another home grown guitar, when did this happen and who owns Washburn now?  I hate to sound so negative, but I can't think of a time when something like this happened, that it didn't turn out to be a bad thing.
