Yet another serial number question
« on: December 23, 2011, 12:43:45 AM »
Here's the serial number of my recent acquisition, an EA-220:

960600xx

What I'd like to know is this:

Should I read it as a 1996 or a 1999?
If I read it as a 1996, is it a good guess that the next part of the SN is the month (06)?
If so, is it a good guess that the remainder of the serial number is the rank of my EA-220 made that month?

That probably would be a 1996 model.  Sounds like you have the rest of it correct.

The other question I have is, is the remainder 00xx reset to 0000 each month or is the 00xx increased regardless of the the month in which the guitar was built?

For example, does  the series work like this
96010001
96010002
96020003
96030004
96030005
96030006
96040007
96050008
etc...

or this way:
96010001
96010002
96010003
96010004
96020001
96020002
96020003
96020004
96030001
96030002
96030003
96030004
etc...
