Trying to date a mandolin
« on: March 08, 2005, 04:32:12 PM »
Hi, I'm trying to get an aproximate date and value on a mandolin I just picked up.  Its a 13 panel bowl back with the serial number A14777 on the inside.  It sounds great and is in great condition save some scratches.  I can't tell if the tuning pegs are original, they look a little hacked, but its a nice little instrument with a rosewood fingerboard and four mother of pearl dots.  Any idea?

Thanks,

Amir

It is a Style 215, the cheapest Washburn mandolin at the time. Yours was made between 1910 and 1915.
