XB400/500/600 - mods - electronics: preamp, pickups.
« on: February 12, 2014, 04:38:56 PM »
Hi!
I own XB500 Bantam Bass (secs below) since 1994. It is very good bass, good wood, sounds great even unplugged. Even my bass instructor wanted to buy my XB500 from me several years ago... She is 20 yo and right now I am considering preamp upgrade but I do not have any experience with guitar modifications.

I would like to kindly ask all Bantam XB400/500/600 owners who modified their axes to share their success stories with us...
- what preamps works with this basses?
- what pickups to consider and why?
- what other improvements to consider?

Thanks for help ;) Mike

hello mn,

just wondering, if your XB-500 sounds perfect and even your music teacher is interested in her..  then it means she has beautiful tone.  If you change something that is working right...  you may end up with something different and even if you try to reinstall the original pickups and preamp, something may go wrong and ruin the tone that made her a beautiful player.

Hello,

I'm considering to buy the exact same bass which seems to have a very noisy preamp.
So I have the same question...
